PRIMARY PURPOSE/SCOPE
The Student Information Technology Assistant supports the daily operations of the Information Technology department while gaining practical experience in IT support, cybersecurity awareness, and basic network troubleshooting. This position assists with routine technical tasks that contribute to maintaining reliable technology services across campus.
The Student Information Technology Assistant works under the supervision of IT staff and participates in activities that support end-user technology services, equipment preparation, and basic operational processes. This role is intended to provide hands-on experience aligned with academic programs in cybersecurity and information technology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS
End User Support Assistance
- Assists with responding to routine technology support requests under staff supervision.
- Supports users with basic account access issues such as password resets and multi-factor authentication assistance.
- Helps prepare and distribute equipment for student, faculty, and staff use.
- Assists with documenting support activities as directed.
Equipment Preparation and Asset Support
- Assists with computer setup, configuration, and deployment activities.
- Supports inventory tracking and organization of technology equipment.
- Helps maintain organized storage and workspace areas within the IT department.
- Assists with preparing devices for reassignment or redeployment.
Cybersecurity Awareness Support
- Assists with basic cybersecurity support activities under staff guidance.
- Supports review of account security alerts as assigned.
- Helps promote awareness of safe technology practices across campus environments.
- Assists with routine security-related operational tasks as directed.
Basic Network and Infrastructure Support
- Assists with troubleshooting wireless connectivity issues as directed.
- Supports identification of basic physical connectivity concerns.
- Assists with maintaining organized network and equipment areas.
Operational Support and Collaboration
- Supports IT staff with departmental projects and operational tasks.
- Assists with maintaining documentation related to routine procedures.
- Participates in training opportunities provided by the Information Technology department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS
This position does not directly supervise employees.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
- Current enrollment as a student at 勛圖扦.
- Pursuing coursework in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, or a related field.
- Strong interest in learning technology support and operational practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and departmental procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS
This position operates in both office and campus environments and may involve moving technology equipment and working at computer workstations for extended periods.
