BLUEFIELD, Va. 鈥 Graham High School senior Skyler Koen has signed a letter of intent to compete with the 吃瓜社 e-sports team, joining a program that has recently expanded in size, scope, and recruiting efforts.
Koen is expected to contribute to a roster that competes in a wide variety of titles, including Call of Duty (Multiplayer), League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch, Fortnite, Valorant, Rocket League, and Apex Legends. The university plans to add Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart soon.
鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to welcome Skyler to the program,鈥 said Madison Whisman, director of e-sports at 吃瓜社. 鈥淪he brings great potential, and it鈥檚 always a proud moment to see local students take the next step in their e-sports journey right here at home.鈥
吃瓜社 has recently invested in upgraded hardware, a broader game lineup, and outreach to local high schools as part of its strategy to grow the e-sports program.
鈥淲e want to introduce students to our program and give them a pathway to continue their e-sports careers at the collegiate level,鈥 said Whisman.
